Consent is an agreement between all parties that is an important aspect of healthy and pleasurable relationships. Getting consent is an ongoing process of learning and respecting people’s boundaries, comfort levels, and willingness to engage in a particular activity. If a person wants to engage in sexual activity, then they should make sure that the other person is truly consenting.
Keep in mind:
- Giving consent can take many forms, and not giving consent can look differently as well.
- Agreeing to a kiss (or any action) doesn’t automatically mean they give consent for any other sexual contact or relation.
- You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Consent is a process; it’s not a fixed state!
